SAOTA does it again with this modern white wall and glass primarypiece. It’s a tropical house built for cool and light. Huge pool in the yard surrounded by lush trees. Although not everything is made of glass; the floor, ceiling and roof are made of different materials, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows give you unobstructed views of the immaculate yard around the home. Glass houses have been around for a long time, yet, they are still rare enough that when you see one, you can’t help but be awestruck. Architects have come up with some pretty incredible ideas for glass houses and every one is so different from the next, and equally as beautiful and intriguing. There is something magical about glass houses. They are beautiful, glamorous, and add a bit of mystery to a way of life that traditional homes cannot. Glass houses have always been intriguing, and as open and exposed as the glass makes the home, they make you beg to see more.

This gorgeous glass house sits high on a steep slope, rising up higher by the support of four columns that support not only the home itself, but the terrace that extends. It is situated in the town of Krakow, Poland and is a design by architect Tadeusz Lemanski. From all around the house, the views are amazing through the seamless, flowing windows that look out over the immaculate yard on one side, and a water front view on the other. Inside are high-end amenities that give you the feeling you are in a luxurious hotel and spa, and it’s no wonder, with this multi-million dollar glass home. Uniquely set up inside, you have different views of the outside depending on where you are in the home due to walled-off, separated areas of the living quarters. You also have sustainable features, with one being the waste-water recycling system for the irrigation system.

The glass curtain wall wrapping the third floor home is a highly sophisticated system custom developed in part with Schuco/Glasbox, a leading fenestration company based in Germany/Canada. The desire was to create a varied glazed façade, while at the same time upholding UV and SHGC ratings. This already rigorous effort was further complicated by the need to maintain a flush butt joint appearance. Given its prominent positioning above a relatively developed neighborhood, the motivation behind the design of the home was to create a residence that could meld into its surroundings while maximizing views.

The house, which ushered the International Style into residential American architecture, is iconic because of its innovative use of materials and its seamless integration into the landscape. We regret that car seat regulations regarding the use of car seats in our shuttle prevent us from transporting any infants and younger children to the site. One was even with Romanesque arches all over the place, brick, basically a stone and brick house. I finally, in despair of getting the house on the knoll because the knoll is too small, I had to take half the house and put it back against the hill, which is the way it is now. So I put a pavilion out on the end so I could look around the world the way you can from a bandstand in a Middle Western town. You stand on the bandstand in off-season and there’s the town at your feet.

Rosszak designed the house for his own family and the openness of this beautiful glass house reflects the beautiful landscape and natural beauty all around. This is a very simple and understated glass home, that due to its simplicity, makes it even more dramatic. The 2,000 square foot home is modest in size, yet looks much larger with its open views from floor to ceiling windows all around its multi-layer construction. The house was designed using wood piles buried 10 feet deep below sea level and a steel frame on top that is able to support 25 full tons of glass. This glass house on Paradise Cove beach is one spectacular view after the other. This is a multi-layer property that boasts of four bedrooms and four baths.
I love how the sections point in different directions. Another gorgeous example of an all wood and glass home in modern design. Check out the interior walls as well – they too are all wood.
John Lautner created the residence holistically – alongside the structure itself, he designed the furniture, lighting, garden and windows. While the living areas are zoned, internal walls are kept to a minimum to further elevate the effect of space and nature. And while the property throughout has a distinctly Brazilian Modernist feel, the polished steel panels of the window frames bring in a certain Art Deco quality. Built among the rainforest of Vinhedo, São Paulo, Library House utilises its location on a steep hillside to great effect. At street level, all that is visible of the building is the viewing platform of the expansive flat concrete roof. The house itself exists in its own private world in the stories below, as if suspended from the forest canopy.

Pairing it with a disconnected undercut will help keep the overall style looking sharp while breaking away from the traditional fade. A long fringe with tapered sides is the ideal look for guys who want to keep a strong contrast between the top and sides. Run over the top with a matte product to accentuate and lock in texture. As one of the most popular styles, this textured spiky style comes with a fresh high skin fade that looks edgy. The new mohawk features a fade and avoids the clean shaven sides, but still requires the distinct strip of hair running down the middle of the head.
Textured French Crop with Skin Fade
Despite its complexity, it’s easy to style with a medium-hold product. Naturally curly hair often takes on a life of its own, but by keeping it cut short, it’s possible to gain more control over your locks. This fantastic style incorporates a bit of length on top that gradually fades to skin right at the nape.
Zig Zag Design with Two Shaved Marks
This crew cut comes with a side-swept front for a classy style. But the high fade cut on the sides and line up along the hairline keep the haircut modern. Not all men are fans of high volume styles, making the crop fade with a fringe a great choice. It’s a classic look with just a hint of texture, and the fringe in front creates a unique finish. The line-up at the temples and along the beard helps to reinforce your masculine features. If you’re a fan of the punk or skater culture, this haircut will undoubtedly appeal to you.
Comb Over with Undercut
The hard part is a modern take on the side part and comb over hairstyles. To get a hard parted haircut, your barber uses a razor to shave a thick line and create a defined part. Most guys get a taper or fade on the sides and back to highlight the longer hair and styling on top. From a clean shave to a full beard, the cut works with all types of facial hair.

A modern bowl cut with a low taper fade offers a fresh take that adds texture on top while keeping the fringe in front straight and orderly. Have your barber give you a low taper fade to keep things tidy and run some pomade through to let your fringe pop. It screams impressive with its length and lift and the faded sides help keep the look symmetrical.
Whether you want a faux hawk, spiky hair or professional comb over, you’ll have many options. This slicked back undercut is a great example of a stylish modern men’s hairstyle. With long brushed back hair and a full beard, this masculine look is a real man’s man haircut, even if the hair on top is a bit longer. Short haircuts will always be one of the top men’s hair trends.
The honeycomb design is intriguing artwork that features a partial hexagonal shape that will set you apart from the crowd. A shaved line with an arrowhead can provide your fresh cut a new direction and edge.

Easy to get, simple to style and low-maintenance to keep, the buzz cut is a wash-and-go style that looks good on most any man. The slicked back undercut is a popular haircut for guys who want a trendy look that blends classic and modern styling. Finishing with a matte pomade will hold this style in place all day or night. The mohawk is an edgy hairstyle that usually features shaved sides and a strip of hair in the middle of the head. While the traditional version requires clean-shaven sides, the modern mohawk comes with a fade for a less dramatic haircut.
Ask your barber to add a star at the crown to show off the royalty that you are. If a haircut costs $20, a tip of 15% ($3) to 20% ($4) is customary, depending on the quality of the service. If you were happy with your haircut and the service, you should tip on the higher end of the scale.
A man bun is a simple and versatile year-round look that never goes out of style. While growing it out may take time, you can rest assured that all it takes is to stop going to the barber! Guys can pull back long locks into a man bun or let their hair flow for a casual look. Whether you grow a long beard or keep it trimmed, you’ll stand out for all the right reasons. For the guy who likes a traditional look with a ton of volume, the parted quiff is one to move to the top of the list.
In-home hair salon, or a “stylist on wheels", will hopefully become a trend for those who want a haircut without leaving home safety and comfort. Using powerful hair clippers, premium hair cutting shears and high-quality precision trimmers can give excellent results. Still, it can also be a bit expensive to buy, especially if you consider other costs such as the furniture and chairs, tables, mirrors and lots more. Barbers located in posh areas in a specific town are also bound to get clients who might be willing and able to pay more for their services. It can be best to find a barber that you can afford and whose prices are fair and reflective of the value and services you receive.
These attractive men’s haircuts generally feature a short taper, fade or undercut on the sides and back with longer hair on top to create a fashionable finish. A cool hairstyle is a must-have for any modern guy who wants to show off his personality and stand out in any crowd. The disconnected quiff is one of the most popular hairstyles for guys this year.
At night be sure to light the fire pit on the deck and stare at views of the ocean or light a fire in the common area (yes, it does get that cold at night sometimes!). You can catch some rays on the deck or slide back the windows to open up the house but even if you just stay inside, the light exposure is such that all you have to do to feel the sun on your face is open the curtains. Containing four bedrooms and four baths, this sleek, modern property sleeps up to eight but has enough common areas for much more. The entire house is controlled by a Lutron smart system (thus, the iPads in every room) and the sound system here is my Sonos.

Despite the very modern style of the house, the layout could easily be a colonial home, something Johnson noted. Built on a 62-acre site in the Dutch province of Zeeland, Villa Kogelhof was designed by Paul de Ruiter Architects as two stacked stories – one above and one below ground – as part of its mission to be an energy-neutral property. The ground level is topped by water, through which light filters into the lower level, which houses the entrance, garage, storage and workspace. The home was actually built as a luxury treehouse but boasts of beautiful modern conveniences, along with furnishings that are accented with warm tones throughout and wide open spaces for unobscured views of nature all around you. The home is worth $1,650,000 and is one of the most gorgeous glass homes anywhere. It sits on 40 acres of beautiful landscape and is dotted with other structures built afterwards.

It’s just a sort of a landscape in which I focused it on this knoll and this oak tree. And the view from that knoll and the view back was how I figured the whole thing. The basement level has been outfitted with a home theatre, gym, spa, cedar sauna, service kitchen, and a wine room big enough to hold a thousand bottles. Also accessible from this floor is The Cube, an attached guesthouse designed for family and staff. The Cube is outfitted with four bedrooms, four baths, a kitchenette, and dedicated access and garage. For the client's entertaining needs, the outdoor area includes a kitchen, two patios complete with fire pits, and an LED-lit pool1.
The image, Burial of Phocion, depicts a classical landscape and was selected specifically for the house by Alfred H. Barr, Jr., the first director of the Museum of Modern Art. Koch Theater) at Lincoln Center in 1964.

The home was designed on two levels due to the topography at the site. On the upper level you will find the living and dining rooms, thee kitchen, as well as storage spaces. On the lower levels, you’ll find the bedrooms, bathrooms and garage. This house is not only in a beautiful country, but the home itself, is so unique that it is a glass house masterpiece. Inspired by Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House, the Glass House’s exterior walls are made of glass with no interior walls, a radical departure from houses of the time. Since its completion in 1949, the building and decor have not strayed from their original design. Most of the furniture came from Johnson’s New York apartment, designed in 1930 by Mies van der Rohe. In fact, Mies designed the now iconic daybed specifically for Johnson. A seventeenth-century painting attributed to Nicolas Poussin stands in the living room.
The large swimming pool on one side of the house is another breathtaking view you get from throughout the home. Upstairs is where you will find the bedrooms, while downstairs is the main sitting areas and living space. You will feel like you are one with nature when you are in this house with limitations in views.
The three-story structure, which takes on the shape of a three-winged propeller, is wrapped in glass that mirrors its sweeping views of the Los Angeles Basin, unobstructed from the Getty Center to Long Beach, Century City, and Downtown. One of the first houses built on The Strand in the early 1900s, this Craftsman-style house has been fully remodeled but has retained enough of its original architecture and character to fully charm anyone who sees it. This is a pentagonal shaped home that is noticed by the front and back of the home, exhibits some of the most intriguing design and architectural efforts. The home inside, is an abundance of open living space that has very few barriers. The views of the beach and ocean cannot compare from this glass home when compared to the neighboring, traditional beach homes, who must feel a sense of jealousy over the beauty you get, inside and out of this glass home. Beautiful in every sense of the word, this magnificent, stark white beach house is so odd, it’s perfect.
It is one of the most innovative, sustainable homes built today, including the fact that this modern modular home was designed for easy assembly and dismantling. Another glass home in Germany, this one is located in Stuttgart and is a modern home that stands four-stories tall and is totally sustainable. It was built to be completely recyclable, and puts out zero emissions and zero carbon. This house reminds me of a spacecraft with the jutting second floor overlooking the valley. Towering all glass modern home with huge covered balconies.
It sits among traditional beach houses that make this one stick out unnaturally, yet magnificently. It literally looks like one cubicle stacked on top of another, layer-after-layer, all the way to the top of its tall structure. The rooms are open and visual from the street, but it is one of the best views you can have of any of the other homes around – 360 degree birds-eye view of the city life around you. Cherry blossoms have a relatively quick lifespan compared to other florals, lasting around a couple of weeks at most. In fact, the once vibrant pink petals often turn slightly mauve, like this gorgeous set above. If you're not so sold on the full-out floral vision, a mismatched mani like this whimsical set is ideal.

It’s tough to pick a favorite themed area at the Huntington, but the Japanese garden makes a pretty strong argument for the top spot—especially during cherry blossom season. Look to the rose garden-adjacent entrance as well as the steps near the ceremonical teahouse to see “Pink Cloud” cherry trees and the not-a-cherry-but-still-pinkish Japanese “Momo” peach tree. Check in with the Huntingon’s exhaustively detailed bloom map for a sense of when each spot will hit its peak; as of the end of March, you should still be able to catch a few cherry blossoms. And how do I represent the depth of what Bowie was experiencing musically, compared to the history of what our musical references generally expect from these years? Bowie was a stranger still, and in a strange world—a somewhat newish artist in the less traveled Europe of Russia. I ultimately settled for the idea of taking a snapshot of the times, just like the photographs in this exhibition.

Bowie House Is the Sumptuous Symbol at the Center of the “New” Fort Worth
Celebrating past, present and future with owner Jo Ellard’s signature, art-savvy style, interiors capture the unique identity and generous welcome of a quintessential Fort Worth home. The wood vaulted foyer lobby sets the stage stylistically with weathered limestone floors, plaster walls and arched openings paired with unexpected art and furnishings. Works by artists including Ashley Collins, Max Zorn, Don Drumm and David Yarrow define spaces throughout the hotel, while guestrooms feature original black and white photography by Constance Jaeggi, artfully capturing Texan ranch culture. Artful cocktails, a vast range of whiskeys, and all-day bites can be enjoyed at The Bar at Bowie House, where friends will come to linger and share stories from the day.
With even the most basic rooms soaring past $1,000 a night on some weekends, it’s not a practical staycation for most (the hotel is offering a 30 percent Texas discount through the end of this year). However, unlike the Commodore Perry, which is guests- and members-only, much of Bowie House is available to the public, including its barnlike Ash Spa. Its grand ballroom is already booked for weddings and other events, and in just two months, the large, welcoming lobby bar—carved into intimate seating areas—and the fine-dining restaurant, Bricks and Horses, have already become favorites of well-heeled locals. During the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo in February, both spaces were packed with pregaming patrons sporting their finest Western wear, which must have been a sight for out-of-state tourists.
Both of my kids had different experiences, depending on which characters were near them, which was really cool. Hale House is a Queen Anne style Victorian mansion built in 1887 in the Highland Park section of northeast Los Angeles, California. It has been described as "the most photographed house in the entire city", and "the most elaborately decorated".[2] In 1966, it was declared a Historic-Cultural Monument, and in 1972 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was relocated in 1970 to the Heritage Square Museum in Montecito Heights where it remains open to the public. — The art-filled, modern Texas decor that showcases Fort Worth as a capital of horse culture.
The Bowie House, which is named after the Alamo defender and famed frontiersman James Bowie (pronounced BOO-eee) opened on Dec. 1, 2023, with 88 units, a luxurious spa, and a clutch of social spaces. If the resort feels uniquely Fort Worth, that’s very much the vision of its owner, Jo Ellard, a Dallas businesswoman and cutting horse hall-of-famer. (For those not familiar with modern equestrian competitions, a cutting horse and rider are judged by how skillfully they separate a cow from its herd.) The art collection is another passion of hers, built over 15 years.
Spacious Lofts feature distinct lounge areas and naturally accented bathrooms with green marble vanities and soaking tubs. The magnificent three-room Goodnight Suite with its dining room for 8 and bird’s eye views of the Cultural District is the property’s signature accommodation. Bowie House isn’t just the perfect retreat for a staycation or destination trip but is also capable of hosting events ranging in size from intimate gatherings to extravagant soirees. It merges the classic Western personality of Texas with a decidedly modern feel, which truly is the definition of current-day Fort Worth. But Ellard was unusually hands-off when it came to menus at the hotel’s various restaurants, including its signature dining room Bricks and Horses. Still, that didn’t stop her from giving the eateries what she describes as having a “Ralph Lauren–esque country luxe feel.” At Bricks and Horses, the focal point is a dramatic, four-foot-tall weathered steel sculpture by Don Drumm, depicting a pair of horses running wild and free. Despite personal attachment, Ellard says that the blank slate gave her an opportunity to worked hand-in-hand with the architectural and interior design firm BOKA Powell to create a modern luxury hotel that screams Texas, or more specifically, Fort Worth.
Outdoor dining at Bricks and Horses takes place in The Garden, the hotel’s nature-ensconced urban courtyard also featuring large and small social spaces to enjoy shareable bites and lively entertainment. Chef Votta’s culinary offerings can also be enjoyed in The Billet Room, the hotel’s inviting game room and convivial social club, as well as in The Mulberry Room. The latter is a library space and intimate venue for discovery, whether sipping bourbon as you read or privatized for intimate social events. The beating heart of the hotel is The Bar, where friends will come to linger and share stories from the day over artful cocktails, a vast range of whiskeys and all-day bites.
The magnificent three-room Goodnight Suite, with its dining room for 8 and bird’s eye views of the Cultural District, is the property’s signature suite. The exhibition, guest curated by Olya Sova, also includes David Bowie’s film The Long Way Home, which documents various stages of their trip on the train, including their time in Moscow during the May Day Parade. Locally based architectural and interiors firm BOKA Powell will design Bowie House to convey a strong sense of place through traditional Texas finishes and Spanish architecture. A collection of eccentric furniture and décor sourced by Bowie Place president Jo Ellard will add a personal touch to the interior as well.
The Ash Spa Experience
Three more Auberge properties are planned across the state in the next few years, including the Knox, scheduled for 2026 near the Katy Trail in Dallas. Auberge’s owner since 2013, Houston billionaire Dan Friedkin, and Dallas-based CEO Craig Reid have clearly seen the potential for the luxury market in their home state. Over the past few years, Fort Worth has two-stepped into the national spotlight with polished boots. One of our fastest-growing cities—not just in Texas but in the U.S.—has become an “it” destination, thanks to multimillion-dollar investments in historic areas and museums, new hotels and restaurants, Taylor Sheridan, Bella Hadid, and locals committed to celebrating the area’s diversity and traditions. One of the Cultural District’s newest gems, the five-star Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection, which opened in December, is a natural, elevated extension of both Fort Worth’s cowboy culture and its world-class visual arts scene. Surpassing the basics of a typical stay, the guest rooms at Bowie House are imbued with the warm spirit of the West.
Encapsulating the generous welcome of a classic Texas home, each of Bowie House's 88 studios, 12 lofts, and six suites are imbued with the warm spirit of the West. Every Sunday, gather at Bricks and Horses to break bread around the table with your nearest and dearest. A brunch feast with family-style dining and artful libations are punctuated with the perfect piece of pie. The main entry, reception desk, restaurant, public restrooms, ballrooms, pool, and spa are all accessible. Seventeen guest rooms have wider, 32-inch entries and other accessibility features such as visual doorbells and fire alarms, roll-in showers, 3-by-3 transfer showers, and accessible bathtubs with grab bars.
Location is everything when it comes to your hotel, and Bowie House couldn’t have picked a better spot. It’s located just 35 minutes from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Fort Worth’s Cultural District. Plus, it anchors a 30-block promenade of acclaimed museums and restaurants and it’s just steps away from the legendary Will Rogers Memorial Center. Safe to say you’ll never be bored if you decide to leave the stunning property, although it will be hard to pull yourself away.

Luxury boutique hotels are relatively new to Fort Worth, so look for specials enticing visitors to stay longer. Bowie House is offering third-night stays for free (with a three-night minimum), while American Express is offering platinum cardholders a similar, limited-time deal without the three-night minimum, that includes daily breakfast and a 4 p.m. Although operated by Auberge, Bowie House is owned by Dallas businesswoman Jo Ellard, a National Cutting Horse Association Non-Pro Hall of Fame rider who breeds championship horses at her EE Ranches, in Whitesboro, about 85 miles north of Fort Worth. The Bowie truly feels like home to Ellard—she bought a cottage on the site of the hotel several decades ago. Ellard, an avid art collector, worked closely with Dallas-based interior design and architecture firm BOKA Powell on the selection, furniture, and decor. Her involvement lends the whole project a certain authenticity, one that’s rooted in Texas tradition—sumptuous leather furniture, cowhide-backed chairs, tasteful photos of cowboys and horses everywhere—but with a worldly, glamorous edge, thanks to genre-defying art and a sense of playfulness.
